Hey Punkfans. As tonight's 2fm show has been bumped to next week, I am going to do a youtube cast instead. A half hour worth of tunes to be played one after the other. I am going to start as I mean to go on. Usually one of the last songs of any good DJ session, I'm opening with it. A smoking version of Sonic Reducer with a total head case doing the intro. Say what you want about Jay Reatard, but he defo died way too young. Showing his poppier side here, its still a deadly video!!

Back to Portland. This one is dedicated to Gary in Vancouver who was lucky enough to catch these live over there last night. I am so jealous, I might just puke!!! Great video. I wish they'd come across the Atlantic, I'd travel to see them again!!!

Hey there ladies and gents, my sincerest apologies about the long gaps in the updating of this page, but I am a very busy man with my fingers, nay entire arms, in many a different pot. The summertime affords me even less internuts time than the winter with the so many things to do away from electrical outlets (mainly drinking in a bush) and frankly I am finding learning the ins and outs of Windows 7 and my new laptop to be less fun than listening to free jazz while being kicked in the ghoulies.

Anyways, I digress, here yissers go. Shows 11 – 24 in the highest quality available to people with good enough taste to download and listen to tunes so bangin that you may end up waking up with a sore hip and a hand mysteriously stuck up the air. Also expect the odd voicemail to yourself proclaiming ‘Fuck Yeah, this shit rocks’ if you put any of these shows on after a night downing scoops.

Alright so a new beginning on a new beginning. The best piece of advice my dad ever gave me was be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. As a man with a lovely wife, two kids, two dogs, two blogs, this radio show, one absolutely kick ass band overdue for world domination (Moutpiece), another project that I will only allude to now as the time is not yet right to unleash it on the music listening public (who will undoubtedly become superfans), and a full time job in middle management, it is safe to say that I have asked for a lot of things and been given even more. The reason I point this out, if it’s not obvious, is that this blog is a bit like an 18 year old me- it hasn’t been seeing much action.
That being said, the rock has been seeing more action than an 18 year old Johnny Depp. I have been listening to, compiling, organising, editing and playing (both live and on this lovely show) more music, than I have in a long time and am lucky to be involved in so many musical (ad)ventures.
Fans of the show are a varied bunch and some people like some of the shows more than others due to the eclectic mix of genres and choonage. I love all of the shows of course and will continue to keep them as fresh and varied as possible.
The problem with soundcloud links are that I can only have 8 shows up at a time. That is where this blog is going to come into its own. I will try to write a few thoughts, news items, etc. here, but if you are looking for a trip inside my head, you are probably better off checking out the Moutpiece blog.

Things are progressing nicely here at Hoolytime HQ..well...when I say progressing I mean I've been memorizing the contents of the Thomann site,I have a bad case of G.A.S.(Gear Acquisition Syndrome).
But I got a new mic and the new machine is running at full tilt so I'm good to go go.

I've had a mental busy week here at Loving Room HQ.I got a new studio PC!It is the fucking DOGS!!
So between goofing around with that and tweaking the various bits'n'bobs inside it,I kinda slacked off and just threw this show together...a real fucking slapdash affair..but whatcha want for fuck all?

So thanks to the epic effort of Loving Room Floor collaborator DJ BEEPBEEP of "BEEPBEEPS BOP SHOP..
This fucking hairbrained show is going live every week!And its gonna be in a sweaty basement below The Gypsy Rose Rock and Blues Bar..so the name is pretty fucking apt!
For the launch we have my band MOUTPIECE and resident VIP DJ's BEEPBEEP and GAZ LE ROCK on the motherfucking choons...
Beeper plays bad ass Rock'n'Roll and I play..well you know the kinda degenerate shite I bang out....ie.
Its Wednesday nights and we'll hopefully have guest bands more often than not and defo guest DJ's..but baby steps....

Albums used to be a wealth of knowledge on what was going on, who was involved and where it was happening. The 'thanks to' section was of particular use. If you liked the band on the album, there was a list of other bands that you'd probably like as well. The thrill of the chase was where it was at.

In this, the information age, this kind of information is much easier to get, if you are willing to look. I am willing to look. I spend a lot of time looking for great music and trying to read between the lines to figure out what is shit hot and where to get it. Most of the music that will be covered can be purchased from the bands themselves or their labels or downloaded from torrent sites, other blogs, or file sharing sites. Most of it is very hard to find in a record shop over here on The Rock

If any info is wrong or if the links don't work, fuck it, I've got a lot on my plate.

JAY REATARD
My current fave is Jay Reatard, Memphis Tennesee's most prolific musician over the last 10 years or so. 40+ albums. The Reatards, The Lost Sounds, Angry Angles, Destruction Unit, Terror Visions, Bad Times, The Final Solutions, the list is nearly endless. Most of it is top notch. His work as Jay Reatard over the last couple of years has been fairly rockin. His full length, Blood Visions, is a great piece of work and is pretty easy to get your hands on. Most of the 7's, especially the earlier ones, are a bit more trouble. Most of them are on shattered records and in the red records. Another good place to look is Goner Records which from what I can tell, is a pretty hip Memphis record store.

He's currently in the middle of a string of 7's for Matador. I think the plan is to release 6 of 'em by the end of the year. The two so far have been a bit radio friendly. The earlier stuff is much better, with Hammer I Miss You coming in for particular mention.

He's got a pretty good mix of his stuff on his myspace page along with a few more videos and links to loads of other bands he's been in.
